Read Part 1 here.
Another short part and not yet sure about continuing it, although I haven't really even gotten to what the prompt really was about.
Blake is almost to the stairs when he hears Miranda mutter what he assumes is "bathroom." Thankfully, it is right next to the stairs and another mess to clean up is avoided as he gets her over the toilet before the dry heaving turns to her bringing up more of her stomach contents. As she retches, Blake sits on the edge of the tub and holds back her hair with one hand while rubbing her back with the other.
Fifteen minutes later, Miranda is pretty sure there's nothing left to come up, but she's still hunched over the toilet resting her head on her arms when she hears her phone beeping with a text alert from where she had left it on the coffee table in the living room. She figures if it's important whoever it is will call, but then she remembers that they had plans tonight and asks Blake to bring her phone to her.
"Sorry, have to cancel tonight," Miranda texts to Ashley and Angaleena.
Ashley quickly responds asking, "Blake get stuck at The Voice again?"
"No, not feeling well," Miranda replies.
Thinking Miranda was referring to Blake, Angaleena chimes in with "Girls night out?" making Miranda chuckle and then cringe as it exacerbates her nausea.
"What?" Blake asks and Miranda hands him her phone as she dry heaves a few times before bringing up a little bit of bile that she spits out into the toilet.
Blake also laughs when he reads it because as much as he'd like to act offended by the idea that Miranda would go out and have fun if he was the one sick, he can be a real jerk when he's sick and the only reason they're still married (and he's not been shot or killed) is that Miranda doesn't put up with his shit and takes me and girl time when she needs it, especially when he's sick.
Blake responds to them with, "Sorry girls no such luck. Ran's sick."
"Bummer," replies Angaleena.
"Take care. Hopefully, we can get together soon to you know what," adds Ashley.
As Miranda is still hovered over the toilet, Blake reads the texts to her. After reading Ashley's, he asks, "what kind of set up was tonight?"
"Nothing," Miranda weakly tries to deflect.
"Yeah, sure. As much as I don't particularly like you being miserable and sick, I somehow have a feeling tonight is now going to be more fun than whatever ambush you had planned," Blake says with a smirk.
